My Month In Photos | July 2015

It is August time already!
Flipping chipping, where has this year gone?!
Here is yet another montage of photos I have taken this month.
I honestly can't believe I am posting this but my little sissy is not so little no more!
*sad face* She left Primary school this month and will be starting Secondary 'big' school in September. She is so grown up now, too grown up for her age.
I remember the excitement when I finished primary school.
FYI -  They now call the school's leavers disco a prom. Things have really gone up in the world, ay.

This was such an amazing day. I was very lucky to have the opportunity to attend an event with CLIC Sargent in the house of lords.
I worte a blog post about this event here but bloody enjoyed a lot, it so thought I would feature it on my month in photos post as well.

The weather has been absolutely beautiful. We had a lovely trip camping with the family!

What have you been up to this month?

CLIC Sargent Parliamentary Event at The House Of Lords

Me and my wing man Pete had another amazing opportunity with  CLIC Sargent, like really amazing! We were invited to a parliamentary reception at the House Of Lords. Never in a million years did I imagine that I would experience mingling with lots of MPs.
I'm just a normal girl from Plymouth who happened to experience a cancer diagnosis and lots of nasty treatment and I am so lucky to have opportunities like this.
Very overwhelming!

The reason for the event was to raise awareness of CLIC Sargent and their new 3 year strategy. There were 4 of us young adults who went to the even and our job was to mingle and share our cancer experiences with MPs and Health care professionals. It was so interesting and felt very rewarding to be part of CLIC Sargent's future and improving the care by sharing my experience. This is definitely the main reason why I go to the events that I am invited to, it is a great feeling that my experience can help or even improve other cancer patients.

My local MP, Johnny Mercer also joined us at the House Of Lords, it was splendid to meet him and discuss how he can help us locally as a charity. It also gave him an insight of what it is like to be a young adult cancer patient and he was very concerned and keen to support us in any possible way he could. I am yet to contact him but have a few ideas how he can help raise awareness locally.

I must admit that I was pretty nervous before going the the event and did question weather I was going to go or not. I think the whole overly formal and well spoken idea put me off the most because I am far from that.
I was stupid to worry because the event was so different to my expectations, most of the MPs were really down to earth and were so easy to talk to.

What a stunning view!

Car Boot Sale Fundraiser for CLIC Sargent

Being a volunteer representative for CLIC Sargent means I get to be involved in lots of fun, fundraising events throughout the year. I have already been involved with many events this year, Wig Wednesday promotion, bucket collections and organising fundraising events for this year.

Bright and early last Sunday morning, me and my wing man Pete done a car boot sale to raise money for CLIC Sargent and it went splendidly well. We didn't think we would sell half of the stuff we had for sale. We had 2 cars full up with books, clothes, children's toys and random things.
Family and friends donated everything to us and we managed to raise an amazing amount for the charity.

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped by donating stuff to us.

To put things into perspective, £124 could go towards a £170 grant that is offered to children and young people with cancer, and their families as soon as they come into contact with CLIC Sargent to help meet the sudden extra costs that a cancer diagnosis can bring.

It went so well that we are thinking of doing one more regularly which will hopefully raise a lot of awareness as well as money for a great charity.
If you are interested in fundraising events in your local area, you can find out here.
Have you ever done a car boot sale? How did you find it?

June Favourites

Hello July!
I can't believe how quickly the last month has flown by.
Have you had a nice month? and most importantly, have you found any new loves?

This lip product is an all time favourite of mine. I have a collection of shades but this is definitely my go to colour. It is highly pigmented and super long lasting.

Kodaline - In A Perfect World
This is an album I have loved since it was released in *I don't know about the exact year*. This month I have listened to this on repeat in the car so I thought it deserved a little spot in my monthly favourites. You will probably know their classic song that I absolutely adore, 'ALL I WANT' it is played on the radio at least once a day! If you haven't watched the sad but lovely music videos to that song you must click here and here. :)
If you haven't heard this album, I suggest you download it NOW!...Like right now!
It is very chilled and does have some upbeat songs , this album is definitely worth a listen.
They have recently released a new album but I am yet to listen to it.
I have also just found out that Kodaline are performing live this month at a MTV crashes which is a concert I happen to be attending in my home town - Plymouth.
How bloody exciting!

This month I have really loved using the Pinterest app on my I Phone. I have moments where I could waste hours of my life searching and re-pinning pins of everything inspirational. I use it mostly to pin and dream about how to decorate 'my future home', foods I wish I could cook and eat, places I will visit one day and hair and makeup envy that I will never achieve.
I have tried a few food and smoothie recipes and have used it for some crafty ideas. There is so many ideas on there it is unbelievable.

Jurassic World
I went on a family trip last Sunday afternoon to watch the new Jurassic film and is was bloody amazing!
Being a classic 90s kid means I am slightly obsessed with all of the films. There is always one of them showing on tele every week so I can predict that you would have seen at least one of them and if you haven't then i'm guessing that you don't own a tv right?  The special effects in this film are so impressive, especially when you compare them to the first film which was released in 1993, yes I had to google that and yes that was the year I was born. How old?
This is definitely a must see film and you can follow the story easily If you haven't watched the other ones.

I would love to hear what you have been loving this month!?

My Month In Photos | June 2015

June has been a super duper busy month for me. A lot of this month's photos are from blog post's I written throughout the month so I apologise If you have already seen them and find this post absolutely boring.

This seems like such a long time ago. It was my not so little Esme's 3rd birthday and we celebrated by having a tea party on her birthday and a family trip to Newquay Zoo at the weekend.
I am definitely going to insist on having 2 celebrations for my birthday next year.
If children can, surely it doesn't stop us...right?

I am involved with a group of people who are trying to improve teenage and young adult cancer care and we were nominated for an award this month.
Myself and a few members of our team went to the Award Ceremony
We had a brilliant evening and although we didn't win the category we were nominated for we still received a medal and had a fun time.

We have had some delightful warm evenings this month and have taken a few trips to the beach already. We had our first beach BBQ of the year...considering it is already July that's pretty poor I know.

I received some free tickets to a concert - Rays Of Sunshine. It was a charity concert situated at the Royal Albert Hall and was a brilliant evening.  I took my sissy Ella with me and we had a touristy day to see all the sights and main attractions in London.

Some of you may not know this but I have recently joined a singing group. Our singing group's main aim is mostly to raise a lot of awareness and support other cancer patients. The other evening we sang at an awards ceremony with our local hospital, it was a great way to have fun, raise awareness and of course drink lots of wine.

As i previously mentioned, the weather has been brightening up this month..at last.
Me and the girls enjoyed a lush evening on the beach making a fire and toasting some marshmallows.

Have you been up to anything exciting this month?
